Thank you to all of our families who joined us for our Marine STEAM Celebration on Thursday, June 18th. This special event showcased the incredible work of students across all grades, and it was amazing to see their creativity, innovation, and dedication on full display.
This celebration is always a highlight of our school community because it beautifully reflects how our students’ learning grows and develops over time. Our youngest learners in 3K begin by building a foundational understanding of the importance of water in our world. As students progress through the grades, they explore increasingly complex topics, including boats, economics, landmarks, bridges, the industrialization of NY Harbor, environmental issues in the Western Hemisphere, marine life, and so much more. Each year, students build upon their prior knowledge, deepen their understanding, and make meaningful connections across their learning.
We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to our incredible community partners, including American Natural History Museum, Billion Oyster Project, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Genovesi Environmental Science Center, Gowanus Canal Conservancy, Hudson River Project, H2O @ Silver Lake, The Noble Maritime Collection, Staten Island Museum, National Lighthouse Museum, NY Aquarium, Sandy Ground Historical Society, Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden, and many more. These partnerships provide our students with meaningful, real-world experiences that bring their classroom learning to life.
We loved seeing families visit classrooms, engage with student projects, and celebrate the hard work of our students alongside our dedicated staff.
We are so proud of everything our students have accomplished and are truly grateful for the continued support of our school community. 💙
