Keep your eyes out- We may get a casino closer to Manhattan! Sound familiar? This would be back at the Meadowlands- the same idea that got nixed (IMHO due to some bad marketing) in 2016. NJ lawmakers need to make a decision by June on whether or not to move it forward.

Eight official applications for NYC Casinos. If they approve just one for Manhattan so business people could drop some coin while they are for a conference, that would mean so much to our city for taxes, roads, schools, healthcare. If they put them all out in the outer boroughs, they are just preying on people that have lower incomes and missing a much larger, lucrative opportunity. GO MANHATTAN CASINO!

While I am thrilled to hear that at least one thing is moving forward after the law was passed to have casinos in NYC TWELVE years ago, having all 3 casinos over an hour from Manhattan is a revenue losing proposition.
We have an opportunity to generate massive revenue for the city and the state by having a casino to accommodate all the business travelers (and tourists) who come to Manhattan. There is no way someone who has a couple of hours to kill is traveling over an hour to drop their money at a casino. There needs to be something easily accessible in Manhattan!
And I would have hoped that the powers that be would have learned the lesson that NYers would rather travel to the closer casinos in Penn or their old haunts in AC rather than the Catskills. We have been leaving money on the table for over a decade. I personally have no idea why.
If we continue down this path, when NJ opens a competing casino in the Meadowlands, all of our money from Manhattan which should be going towards NY schools, infrastructure etc will continue to leave the state for NJ and a more accessible casino.
We have a great opportunity to bring in billions of dollars: let's not blow it.
A massive casino and entertainment complex is one step closer to transforming the Citi Field parking lot
The $8 billion project would also bring a hotel, restaurants and green space to Queens.
