The LIXIL International University Architectural Competition is a design competition hosted by LIXIL JS Foundation. Situated on a site in the Memu Meadows of Taiki-cho, Hokkaido, the competition seeks sustainable architectural solutions from nominative universities around the world. The theme of this year’s competition is “Comfort and Lightness" for the next generation sustainable house in Taiki-Cho, Hokkaido. The theme addresses a contemporary concept of comfort which hinges on creating barriers to block out the environment. Contestants are called upon to design a light shelter which can be easily assembled and moved, allowing residents to connect with their environment and enjoy a comfortable life. Together with collaborators from Kengo Kuma & Associates, the winning team will be responsible for the project throughout the construction phase. Design Team:
