And we're BACK! CUNY just completed a full semester of in-person classes. It's been tough to handle covid and carry on via Zoom, but a full semester in-person, with more to come, is a triumph. The graduation ceremony for the Graduate Center was held in-person for the first time since 2019! It had to be held at the enormous Barclays Center because 362 grads walked across that stage and got their doctoral hoods - congratulations to THREE classes: 2000, 2021, and 2022!!

Award! Recent alum Jennifer Ortiz received the Outstanding Article of the year award from the American Society of Criminology's Division of Convict Criminology at ASC's virtual conference last month! Jen's award-winner is "The System Is Not Broken, It Is Intentional: The Prison Reentry Industry as Deliberate Structural Violence," PRISON JOURNAL, Vol. 99, No. 4 (2019).

Everyone is working on-line. We're all still here! So keep in touch, alums.
CUNY had to cancel all its in-person events until further notice. So there will be no graduation photos coming up, or awards ceremony photos, but we'll post what comes in.
For instance, last month at the John Jay annual awards ceremony, 2019 Fyfe Fellowship awardee Shamus Smith attended and brought along his mom who flew to New York from California for the occasion. Aw gee!
