Our 4s class this year has been investigating and exploring birds of prey - namely the native species that frequent Prospect Park! Today, our explorers went on a search to find the bald eagle that has taken up residence near the dog beach. While our young birders didn’t find what we were initially looking for, we spotted a bathing red-tailed hawk and a heron flying over the pond! We hope to take our observations back to the classroom as we construct our own life-sized bald eagle. Moving forward, we plan to use our bird knowledge to connect with conservation and environmental action. Do all birds in the world have what they need?

We continue to fight for city funding for 3K and 4K programs city-wide. This lesson we bring to our children - small voices brought together can create big change; sometimes it’s ok to “act up”.
