Aileen's Music Tree

Aileen's Music Tree I'm a retired special education teacher. I taught adaptive PE for 23 years and music for my last 8 years. I have also taught science, social studies and health.

I have a BS in Phys Ed and a MS in Special Education. I am an independent proprietor that is an accredited vendor and a retired teacher for the DOE (vendor number Ail501147). I produce my award winning "Save the Earth" assembly outreach program at your school involving students and alumni volunteers from the Department of Education. As a special education teacher I worked with other teachers and students performing this award winning program that includes a play, musical performance and Q & A session. I also was awarded the Chancellor's Teachers Honor Roll for creating outstanding student music programs in 1993 and the Very Special Arts Mayor's Award in 1993 & 1995. I also produce other theme assemblies as well as holiday concerts. My staff professional development workshops coordinate with these assemblies. 1. Music: A Tool for Learning 2. The 3 R's in the Classroom: Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. Through the production of my “Save the Earth” assembly program, students will learn how and what to recycle, increase their literacy through reading song sheets and know alternative ways of communicating such as sign language and picture symbols. I will perform this assembly in any setting available around the city to raise awareness about this important issue. Students will achieve a sense of self worth and achievement for what they are doing for the community as well as for our future on this planet! As for my workshops, they are all turn key utilizing hands on activities. Lesson plans will be provided that are teacher and student friendly and are easy to implement in all academic areas and can be adapted to all functioning levels and populations. Each workshop will be specifically designed to your population/functioning level.

Exciting news for Aileen's Music Tree!!! I got my first GRANT!!!! Thanks Staten Island Arts!!! I will be starting my residency this month at a local DOE special ed school producing my award winning "Save The Earth" assembly program!!! I have been retired for 8 years now and this is 7 years in the making!!! Woo hoo!!! All that hard work finally came to fruition! It started out not so good but maybe 2019 will be my best year yet!
