Throwing it back to 2012 with ✨ Pierre’s 2-Step Faux Wood Tutorial ✨

This Two-Step Wood Graining Process includes:

Step 1: Preparation & First Layer
•prepare matte medium and acrylic glazing liquid*
•apply glaze generously with a glazing brush
•use a dry spalter to even the glaze
•use a flogger brush to create wood grain pattern

*can also use HV’Art Lacquer glaze.

Step 2: Second Layer & Finishing
•once the first layer is dry, re-apply the glaze with the glazing brush
•with a dry brush, add textures such as moire
•smooth out the glaze with a softener. Left to right and gently up and down

Trompe l’oeil is a French phrase that literally means “fool the eye.” 👁️

Trompe L’oeil is a painting technique that creates the illusion of three-dimensional objects or scenes on a two-dimensional surface. This is often used to create the impression of real objects or architecture.

This technique can really fool the eye!

In 2013, at Salon St. Petersberg, Pierre was asked to create a large scale ceiling ornament during a live demonstration.
