The REACH Institute

The REACH Institute REACH seeks to enhance the nation’s capacity to address mental health through transformative training for clinicians.

According to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Science, it takes 18 years on average for medical innovations to reach patients. Shortening the wait for science to reach its intended beneficiaries greatly benefits families, communities and society as a whole. REACH and its scientific partners believe that this time lag can be reduced to less than 3 years, giving more than 3 million young people a real chance for happier, healthier and more productive lives. Expanding the “reach” of today’s knowledge is what we do. The discovery of even more effective treatments is what we hope for. Please join us in making certain that children and adolescents are not left waiting too long. REACH uses a four-step process to accelerate the time that it takes for state-of-art science to reach local communities:

* Identify and validate the highest-quality scientific findings
* Adapt these new interventions to make them family- and child-friendly
* Quickly disseminate and implement these proven interventions, and
* Empower local communities to sustain this change process through ongoing access to REACH’s latest programs, training materials and technical assistance

Pediatric residency faculty: There is still space available in REACH’s upcoming Resident Education in Assessing Anxiety, Depression, and Suicidality (READS) training.

This live, virtual two-day program is designed to equip residency educators with the skills and confidence to teach evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of anxiety, depression, and suicidality in children and adolescents.

The course takes place October 22–23, and registration closes October 8.

This year, REACH awarded full PPP scholarships to 45 clinicians serving high-need communities across the country, equipping them with practical, evidence-based tools to assess, diagnose, and treat children and adolescents with mental health concerns.
