Object still lives created as part of Riccardo's Masters in Digital Photography thesis titled, "Proof of Life" documenting personal ephemera meant not only to hold value to the owner of the objects, but to impart that material desire onto the viewer.⁠

“My practice unfolds at the intersection of plant life, light, and time, where biological processes become both medium and collaborator. I work with living systems not as subjects to be represented, but as active participants whose internal chemistries, metabolic rhythms, and responses to environmental conditions shape the work as it emerges.”⁠

Through photography and living systems, Peterson’s work explores collaboration with the natural world, allowing process, transformation, and time to become part of the image itself.⁠

“I am interested in how technological, religious, medical, and domestic structures promise reassurance, safety, or connection while quietly shaping bodies and behaviors.⁠
⁠
Working with silicone, steel, glass, agar, scent, sound, and collaborations with robots and other nonhuman agents, I create environments that sit close to the body. Heat, vibration, breath, and touch function as interfaces that implicate the viewer physically, shifting observation from passive to participatory.”⁠

CIRCUT TENSION

An alumni exhibition featuring recent work across sculpture, photography, video and mixed media by artists from SVA’s residency programs, curated by Rachel Gisea Cohen () and Nivia Hernandez (.her)

“Circuit Tension” brings together a group of alumni artists whose practices engage the complexities of the current political climate. Moving between the personal and the collective, the works on view reflect a heightened awareness of systems—social, technological and ideological—that shape contemporary life. Through strategies of disruption, reflection and reimagination, these artists respond to conditions of uncertainty, polarization and rapid change..."

The exhibition will be on view at SVA Flatiron Gallery and Flatiron Windows, 133/141 West 21st Street, New York City.
