Our HEAF Graphic Design class never fails to blow our minds with their brilliance! We began with a fun ice breaker where our students had to advertise an item from their homes! We then had a virtual tour of Museum of Illusions New York and was introduced to our delightful Activist Graphic Star Maurice Woods! Finally, we worked on Canva on an illusions and activism theme project!

We began with an ice breaker to introduce ourselves and then asked our students “what do you want others to takeaway from your art?” Then we watched ThatsDax Thinking Time and our activist star: Sydney G. James, Black Genius Activist-Vans Partnership! We finally began working on Canva on an Art & Activism Theme!

Our HEAF Graphic Design Class are doing wonders! We finally began sharing our creativity on Canva!

Splendid day with our Harlem Activities Fund (HEAF Summer Quest Program! Today we covered what activism is and brainstormed social injustice topics students would be interested in. Our inspiring STEM icon was Amro Halwah, who was also teaching with us today!
We shared a video of Amro presenting a robot he built to clean subway tracks to former President Barack Obama, as well as, an app he developed to go along with the issue of trash on subway tracks causing track fires. This app will exemplify our students’ next project in creating a social justice app! Nevertheless, it was a day full of influence and success!
