The moment we lifted the template, the whole ocean scene came to life.

For this Spotted Eagle Ray project, we traced a template, sponge painted a textured underwater background, then removed the template to reveal the ray’s silhouette. The finishing touch: spots and markings drawn with a white colored pencil. Such a fun project with spectacular results!

The pencil brand matters here. We use Blick or Prismacolor whites so those details really show up on the black background.

The kids had so much fun making these woven watermelons. Once they figured out the over-under pattern, they were eager to keep going and see their slices take shape.

Weaving takes patience and careful hand movements, so it’s a great way to practice fine motor skills. But to the kids, it was simply a fun art project—and they were so proud of what they made.

Inspired by Henri Matisse’s iconic cut-outs, we traded paintbrushes for scissors and turned colorful paper into bold shapes, playful compositions, and seriously cool art.

Cut, arrange, rearrange, create. Sometimes the simplest materials lead to the biggest ideas.

Dots on dots on dots.

Inspired by the legendary Yayoi Kusama, we turned a simple cat into a full-on polka-dot masterpiece.

Kusama made the humble polka dot iconic—covering paintings, sculptures, rooms, pumpkins, and just about anything else she could imagine. Her fearless creativity, unmistakable style, and extraordinary body of work inspired generations of artists around the world.

We’re celebrating her incredible legacy the best way we know how: making art.

Summer looks pretty cool through these shades. 😎☀️

For this self-portrait project, our artists dreamed up their own summer beach scenes, then captured them as reflections in a pair of 3D sunglasses. A little drawing, painting, imagination, and clever paper construction brought the whole project to life.

One of our favorite summer projects—and definitely one worth seeing from every angle! Leaving it here if you want to save and try it later!

A little peek at what we were creating at Summer Camp last week!

Our artists painted colorful flower gardens, then grabbed their paper magnifying glasses and imagined what they might discover living among the flowers. Bugs, butterflies, and other tiny garden creatures came to life as they zoomed in and added their own creative details.

With every zoom-in, campers added playful details and brought their mini worlds to life through painting, observation, and lots of creative fun.

The kids created incredible underwater worlds filled with sea creatures, coral, and ocean plants—but this project had a little magic built in. 🔦

The moment they discovered they could bring their artwork to life? SO much excitement. Definitely a camp favorite!
