Cadets are essential for loading out the ship for winter sea term. It is much easier than on previous training ships as training ship Empire State VII is equipped with modern cranes and there is an access hatch and platform next to the dry store spaces.

SUNY Maritime College’s second and third-class Cadets participating in the winter sea term maiden voyage for the Empire State VII training ship began reporting aboard today. These students will be involved in exercises, drills, training, and ship familiarization as part of pre-cruise over the next 3 days. The ship will depart Fort Schuyler at 1000 on Tuesday, January 9.

This abbreviated winter sea term is a continuation of the last summer’s sea term when TS Empire State was unavailable, and Cadets embarked on TS Gold Bear for 5 weeks.
