To celebrate the completion of their very own books, students enjoyed a special camping-themed publishing party inspired by the characters they created in their stories. 🔥

Their stories were filled with hilarious campsite bandits sneaking away marshmallows — whether to build marshmallow ball pits, make s’mores, or simply because they were hungry.

But behind the fun was weeks of hard work, creativity, imagination, and determination.

Each student learned how to turn their ideas into a real story, how to express themselves through writing, and how to proudly share their work with others.

And most importantly, they learned that their voices, ideas, and creativity matter.

NYCMC Wellspring Schools 4th graders walked into class and left knowing more about the world and their deen than they did that morning.

To kick off their Wishtree novel study, students teamed up to research oak trees and create their own informational posters.

They learned how to think, how to work together, and how to turn research into something real.

And along the way they learned that the Prophet ﷺ said planting a tree is sadaqah jariyah.

NYCMC Wellspring Schools | Earth Day Field Trip

Last Wednesday our 1st graders spent Earth Day at Queens County Farm in Queens.

They got out into the fresh air, walked the fields, and got their hands right in the soil harvesting tulip bulbs.

Exploring, discovering, and experiencing the nature and beauty of everything Allah created to make this world so beautiful.

Every student got to take bulbs home to plant themselves. So the trip did not end when the bus pulled back up.

It continued in their backyard, on their windowsill, wherever they chose to plant it.

They are going to watch something grow that they harvested with their own hands.

Something Allah placed in this earth, just waiting to bloom.

NYCMC Wellspring Schools 5th graders went deep into the world of spring critters and plants and came back with something worth sharing.

Students researched a spring animal or plant that benefits everything around it, broke down its anatomy by name, and connected it all back to our value of the month: ihsan. ☀️

Learning the name of every part sharpens how students think and communicate, that’s scientific literacy built early.

Understanding how a creature or plant serves its ecosystem builds something even bigger, a sense of purpose and excellence in how we show up for those around us.
