That's a wrap on Design Week 2021! Thank you all for joining us and a very special thank you to all those who helped share how to "design waste out". This year, the team decided to focus on sustainability and teaching people in the community about ways they can reduce waste. Participants were able to virtually attend talks, workshops, a panel, and learn about sustainability projects happening at NYU.
Our panelists were four passionate changemakers and innovators who have taken on the challenge of βdesigning waste outβ through their work with community fridges, youth programming, development of recycling pipelines, zero waste education, and community organizing in order to create a more sustainable, equitable, and inclusive future. Thank you Zenat Begum from Playground Coffee Shop, Daneille Foster-Russell from GrowNYC, Brigitte Vicenty from Inner City Green Team, and Monalisa Prasad from NYU Eats for your incredible words and advice.
During our Sustainable Packaging workshop, Kelsey Moffitt spoke about her work TerraCycle US and Loop and their mission to combat single-use waste by developing circular solutions to the current linear systems of recycling for hard-to-recycle materials.
Lastly, the Getting Involved workshop taught us how everyone can get involved in "designing waste out" of our lives. You can take action by joining sustainability clubs at NYU and national programs, shopping at farmers' markets, volunteering with local organizations, voting for sustainable policies, and so much more!
The videos of the panel and workshops will be up on our Youtube soon at bit.ly/NYUMSYT. Thank you again for joining us to take action and learn more about designing waste out ππΏ
