How I showed up at Miss Coney Island a few days ago, in new pieces by Wae Messed. If you know me, you know I love a cape!

I want to take this opportunity to encourage folks over 60 (and everybody else) to wear the things that bring you joy. It doesn’t matter if it’s a corset and knee tape or just leggings and a scrunchie. Let yourself go, in whatever way you want!!!

I’m so sad to hear we have lost the dearest, most loving man, Chuck Varga, known to many as GWAR ‘s cofounder, The Sexecutioner. He was an icon who always kept the enthusiastic and inspired energy of a fan. I’ll miss his lovely smile and big heart.

Sending love and strength to his beloved wife Bambi Themermaid, who held his hand to the end. ❤️💔

Here I am performing my Firebird act in Bambi Themermaid’s “Exotic Birds” act nearly 20 years ago.

Bambi has been making magic happen at Coney Island USA for over two decades, and it’s happening again this weekend. She’s the producer of the Burlesque at the Beach series, which is the longest-running burlesque series in New York City.

She’s also the founder of the Bambi The Mermaid Presents: pageant, one of the most imaginative and exciting pageants in the world, and this weekend I’m hosting it!

I can’t imagine burlesque without Bambi’s influence, creativity, and wild vision. Come see us honor it in Coney Island on September 26!

This movie — and this moment in it — helped me trust myself and go forward to lead the life I wanted.

I’ll never forget meeting him one night at Mel Frye and having the strangest, but most thrilling, thought go through my head —“He’s real! And oh my gawd, so am I!”

My birthday present from Jonny Porkpie . I’ve already written a poem inspired by her and I suspect I will be writing much much more! This dancer reminds me of working in clubs. She’s even got the little hip dip and leg bone shapes like me!
