Placement with a New Hope Partner is needed by close of business 9/21/26 to prevent behavioral decline and provide support in a more appropriate setting. May be at risk for euthanasia 9/22/26 or sooner if warranted. **This dog may need to be released unaltered and will need to be altered by the New Hope Partner following transfer.**

SOURCE STATED DOG IS EXTREMELY PROTECTIVE AND A GUARD DOG TO THEM AND THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHER. SOURCE STATED THEY HIGH RECOMMEND SLOW APPROACH AND TO NOT ALLOW DOG NEAR YOUNG CHILDREN AND TEENS/ADULTS ARE FINE.
Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers)
9/13/2026
Handler approached front kennel, dog was laying down in back kennel. Handler lowered guillotine and reapproached. Dog began to briefly pace and then sat near gate when handler began leashing attempts. Dog was avoidant but allowed leashing after a handful of attempts. Once leash was secured handler opened gate, dog pulled strongly towards exit door. Handler guided dog out to PY, dog continued to pull moderately. Once on gravel dog began to urinate. Handler waited and once dog started walking opened catch pen gate and dog darted into PY. Dog had continued to urinate while walking. Once in PY handler attached leash extension and adjusted leash stopper. Dog was trying to keep distance and stay at end of leash. Handler released dog and sat on bench. Dog paced exterior wall and walked around PY briefly. Handler tried to verbally coax over and offer treats dog walked to exit and then returned to exterior corner of PY. Dog defecated and then began attempting to bury f***s. Dog would use nose to move gravel. Dog then began eating f***s as well. Handler noticed dog had caused injury to nose, nose was bleeding and dog continued to cover f***s and eat. Dog was not showing prosocial behaviors during evaluation and hard staring at handler with tense posture when near f***s. Handler opened catch pen and tried to use spatial pressure to guide dog over and retrieve leash. Dog began circling handler a few times once away from f***s. Handler was able to pick up leash and walk over to catch pin. Handler placed clip leash. Handler notified vet staff in passing and returned dog to kennel. Dog entered without issue and then allowed leash removal using clip leash.

Dog laying in back of kennel, looking through divider, wide eyes, handler closed divider and approached back of kennel, dog laying still, tense, shaking, handler tossed treats and dog leaned forward to sniff them but showed no further interest, staring at handler, handler slowly opened door and held out leash, dog leaning back, handler was able to lean into kennel and drape leash over head, dog was still laying in same spot, allowed leash placement then slowly got up and exited kennel, wide eyes, tense face, low tail, followed handler to yard, briefly hesitated to walk in but then entered yard and immediately urinated and defecated al large amount, likely previously potty trained. Handler added drag line then let dog wander, dog went to back fence, watching construction work, ears upright and forward, closed mouth, hyper vigilant, would keep checking where handler was until they sat on bench, dog took a few minutes sniffing around yard, occasionally glancing at handler then ducking head back to the ground, would walk closer, eventually came up and sniffed handler, startled and walked away when handler spoke, went back to the fence, pacing, scanning area, alert. Handler would continue to speak softly and call to dog, dog would look to handler when they said her name but did not approach, stayed at fence. Dog stopped to urinate again, then resumed walking along fence line, started to paw at fence as if to start digging, handler spoke gently and stood up, dog paused, watching handler movements, handler walked to other side of yard, a bit closer to dog, stopped and called to her, dog came up and sniffed handler briefly, then went back to corner of yard, jumping up at the fence, handler spoke again and walked a step closer, dog stopped, handler walked back to bench and sat down, calling to dog, dog approached, handler reached out to pet dogs side but she quickly walked back to the fence. Dog stayed there, urinated a third time, this time dog began to bury it, pushing rocks with her muzzle. This went on for about a minute, handler spoke gently and dog stopped, looking up at them, handler stood up and walked to middle of yard, dog circled past them and handler stepped on leash, walked dog to the catch pen, once in catch pen handler gently pet dogs side, dog flinched, turned and licked handlers hand, tolerated further petting, facing back into yard, no reaction. handler added clip leash, strong pull back to kennel, walked in easily and removed leash with clip

K9 walks on leash, k9 very timid and nervous, k9 wide eyed, k9 skin flinches when touched, k9 ORANGE DUE TO BEHAVIOR , k9 aware of all surroundings, BE CAUTIOUS WHEN HANDLING
