We have some really exciting news! Over the years, so many families have asked us if we could help record and produce the original songs their children have been writing in lessons - and we’re so happy to share that we’ve now added this to our offerings! 🎶🎤🎧

One of the things that makes Blue Balloon so special is that our students don’t just learn music - they write their own songs. They write about their pets, their dreams, their siblings, funny inside jokes and big feelings they don’t have words for yet.

Songwriting teaches them how to express themselves and process everyday stuff, and over time these songs become such a beautiful reflection of who they are at that exact moment in childhood. Throughout the years, our students have written so many incredible songs about all kinds of things (you’d be surprised by their whimsical, surprising, profound little thoughts!).

With our Home Studio Sessions, students can now record their songs right from home in a way that feels comfortable, creative, and low-pressure. A wonderful independent instructor in our network with recording studio experience will come to your home with a simple recording setup, guide your child through the process step by step and add instrumentation, edits and other elements of production after the session is completed.

These recordings become so much more than just songs. As a parent, I see them as time capsules, a snapshot of your child’s voice, imagination, humor and personality at a fleeting moment in time.

It’s also such a confidence-building experience for kids. They get to step into the role of artist, songwriter, performer - and walk away with something that feels completely their own.

Some lessons I’ve learned along the way as the founder of Blue Balloon 💙

Back in 2008, I started Blue Balloon as a one-woman music school, out of my studio apartment in Brooklyn. Little did I know that this seed of an idea would blossom into what Blue Balloon is today: a national network of over 75 amazing and talented instructors, teaching hundreds of students a week, on countless instruments, in different corners of the country. I couldn’t be prouder of the community we’ve built!

Running a small business is challenging, especially as a mom juggling so many responsibilities! I still remember how overwhelming the early days of motherhood were, when even leaving the house felt impossible, let alone running a business. But this business was my first baby and it’s success is one of my greatest joys in life 🥰🎶
