The NYU Environmental Law Society (ELS) is a student organization for all NYU law students interested in environmental issues.

Along with the Environmental Law Journal, ELS is the heart of NYU Law's thriving environmental community; we plan lots of great events and we have a lot of fun together. ELS-sponsored programs include our issue-focused panels, featuring prominent environmental lawyers and scholars; legal projects in which we partner with local or national environmental organizations to provide research assistance;

Happy last day of classes! As you start to look towards next semester, ELS wanted to highlight a new seminar that is being offered this spring: "Environmental Drivers in Today's Energy Industry". The class will be taught by David Hayes. He is new to NYU Law and heading up the recently-formed State Energy & Environmental Impact Center which works with progressive state attorneys general on clean energy, climate and environmental matters.

Here's a description of the course:
Environmental considerations are playing a material role in today’s energy sector. Environmental issues loom large as potential existential threats for some energy sectors and projects. They are opening new energy markets for others.

This seminar will explore key environmental issues that are significantly influencing contemporary energy development. As a general matter, each session will address environmental issues that are impacting a specific form of energy production, distribution or use. Trend lines and crosscutting themes will be developed throughout the seminar.

Best of luck on finals!
