We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our student Zara Lakhaney, a sophomore at Scarsdale High School has been invited to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, where she received a Gold Key award.

Her work has also been selected for presentation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Recapping a powerful portfolio piece by Jianing (Lexington High School → Cornell ED).

The composition is complex yet controlled, showing a high level of technical skill while still leaving space for emotional interpretation. From material rendering (glass, water, skin) to conceptual depth, this piece reflects what top art schools are truly looking for.

In our art portfolio prep, we guide students to move beyond just “making something look good” we focus on building work that communicates ideas, tension, and personal perspective. Jianing’s piece is a perfect example of how strong concept + ex*****on can come together to create a portfolio that stands out.
