CONGRATULATIONS!
Most of us in this industry toil away our entire lives without acknowledgment. That's the nature of our business.
We do it because we Love it!
The work itself is our reward!
And How Lucky and How Blest we are to get to do it!
I have always thought of Awards Season as a great big Celebration of All of us... All the winners! All the nominees! All those unnominated! All of us, like Casting Directors, for whom there is no category at all... All of the actors who auditioned and didn't book this year... We are All a meaningful part of this industry and what makes it happen! So Here's to All of us!
And every now and then, a moment like this comes along... One of so many unsung heroes in this industry gets acknowledged because so many of us know that the industry as it stands would not be the same were it not for her sitting at that audition piano for six decades and changing our lives and making everything we do better!
I Love this moment, not only because it is so Well Deserved, but also because of what it represents for so many who have had profound influence on our identity in this work... All of those perhaps not famous, yet still Legends!
Oh, and my partner took this photo, and I am standing next to her, and of course, needed to be edited out. I cannot help thinking about what a fantastic laugh we would have had together over that, and I can even hear her voice laughing with Glee and telling me yet again, "Tough S**t!" XXOO

Today I painted a new residents nails at work and as we were going over colors, she mentioned she wanted clear. The only thought that came to my mind was "CLEAR?! That's no fun." I asked her why she wanted clear and she said, "My hands are ugly, I don't want to draw attention to them." I then carefully responded with, "Your hands tell the story of your life. They tell the story of love, of care and adventure. These hands have touched and held things that most people can only wish to one day." And with that, she went with the color pink for her nails. Sometimes what we are so insecure with, others find beauty in. 💖
