You spot a streak of light across the sky. Three seconds, maybe less. Without thinking, you close your eyes and make a wish. Nobody told you to. You just did it. Where does that impulse come from, and why does it feel so automatic? The answer starts with a Greek astronomer named Ptolemy and a very specific theory about gods peering through gaps in the sky. 🌠 Read it here ->

Why do we wish on shooting stars? Discover the ancient Greek myth behind the tradition, the real science of meteors, and tips to spot one in the night sky.

Archaeology's most revealing finds are rarely gold or ancient temples. A 16th-century skull from an Italian plague burial ground had a brick shoved in its mouth to stop it from rising as a vampire. Romans wrote lead tablets asking gods to ruin their rivals' businesses. A Viking burial mound contained weapons deliberately smashed as part of a funerary ritual. A tomb in Luxor held a mummy arrangement no one had ever seen before. Ancient people were worried about their enemies, their debts, and things that go bump in the night. Just like us.

Doomscrolling is not a willpower problem. Social media is engineered to trigger the same reward loop as a slot machine: unpredictable, variable, impossible to stop. Biology microlearning flips that. Instead of anxiety after 30 minutes of scrolling, you get the same dopamine hit from finishing a short lesson and actually knowing something new. The University of Sussex found that prolonged exposure to negative news significantly increases anxiety. Nibble works the opposite way: bite-sized biology lessons that satisfy curiosity without the spiral. 🔬 Read it here ->

Tired of doomscrolling? Replace unproductive time with biology microlearning. Take short lessons on biology that improve your knowledge and mental well-being.
