In honor and celebration of Juneteenth, Solid Rock Academy Tutoring is offering a sale, 10% off any tutoring package from 6/15-6/22❗Click the link in our bio❗

Juneteenth (June 19, 1865) marks the day that all enslaved Black people in Texas were finally made aware of their freedom, almost 2 1/2 years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

One major form of oppression during and for centuries after slavery has been limiting or denying access to equitable education. Anti-Literacy laws prohibited enslaved Black people from learning to read or write. For almost a century after slavery ended, attending a desegregated school with adequate resources was still illegal! To this day, inequity exists in education through the school to prison pipeline, and use of property tax to fund schools. Why? BECAUSE KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, AND POWER IS FREEDOM!

These major deterrents have not stopped African-Americans from seeking quality education, but instead it has emboldened many in their pursuit of knowledge.

We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to continue in that pursuit, to enrich the minds, and enlighten the path of our young learners. The time is now!
