We had an awesome panel discussion during Schrödinger's Educator's week, which included David Gaynes, the director of the Biochemistry Literacy Documentary, Ash Kaluarachchi, CEO of StartEd, and my awesome Zoom students Barjor, Ellie, and Carolyn who did an amazing job taking about their experience learning biochemistry. I can't imagine what it must have been like to present at an international science conference in 5th grade!

Our Story

Biochemistry Literacy for Kids is a STEM curriculum, developed by me, Professor Daniel Fried, that uses modeling and visualizations to make college-level chemistry and biochemistry accessible to kids as young as six years old. The program began as a side project during my Ph.D. work at Yale, and has since been piloted and deployed in dozens of schools around the US. Home school students all over the world also use the curriculum. This is my dream curriculum--it’s the way I wish I was taught--and provides the needed molecular foundations that are unfortunately missing form most early science learning.
