The full moon today is opulent in light reflected from the sun. Our human nature has the capacity to reflects our wisdom, our center, our guru nature, the teacher within, the light of consciousness. Our core, is like gravity, reliable, holding us upward when we journey through life trying on different directions, crazy perspectives, test our luck. On occasion, the intensity of life may seem to be pulling us “ out of ourselves “, giving way to confusion, depression, loss, hopelessness. We all have been there too. The light of the moon today reminds me of the source of light, the wisdom within us. This unmovable presence we can trust.

This week in my yoga classes I look forward to exploring the mood of acceptance. In between our dreams and desires, determinations and self-judgments, our will to succeed and create wonderful lives, there is a palpable space of acceptance. Similarly to the space in- between the bones that has to be maintained and open to movement, our lives thrive in acceptance. There, we can relax into what is, smile and find comfort of being in this body, in this mind, in this soul. One of my favourite people I am always learning from is Byron Katie. Recently I heard her say : " you have done your part, it doesn't get any better then that" tonights zoom class is by reservation only. Wednesday Jan 31, and Thursday Feb 1, 12:30-1:30pm at World Yoga Center on west 72nd street plus Restorative practice on Sunday February 4th at 7pm

My summer was all about transitions, physical as I travelled a lot from one continent to another , north and south and back to the beginning. It was about an emotional state of mind, as I observed push and pull of expectations, while practicing staying true to my self, that patient self, the always content one. Relying on my inner capacity to move with a flow, meant: slowing down, breathing, noticing how whatever didn’t go “ the right way” actually went the right way.
Yoga is a practice of awareness, where our inner sense knows life affirming paths.

We had a wonderful time at the Muladhara workshop/urban retreat this past Sunday. Watercolor painting and yoga practice was just what we needed. We might do it again at the World Yoga Center

A soulful place to learn, grow and practice yoga. I am delighted to be teaching there. My secret story is that I came to WYC for the first time about 20 years ago. I remember I took a class with Rudrani, a founder. I thought to myself then, how much I would love to one day be teaching at this studio. Not to mention that I had wished then to be teaching like Rudrani ☀️😊
Well, today I don’t teach yoga like She does. I had discovered my own individual way of teaching, rooted in the foundation which we share at the World Yoga Center, a life affirming practice of yoga.

See the light, streaming through our windows…heralding the Spring?
Here at the World Yoga Center we welcome the Spring with a new schedule as of March 15th, will you join us in-person or via livestream?!

Sanskrit words have multiple meanings, like facades of a crystal. Take SARAYU. It means Holly River. Our lives are often compared to a river. You can never swim in the same river. It is always flowing down towards the ocean. It is a source of life, nourishment, cleansing, satisfying thirst, rest and crossing to the other side. Sarayu also means a refreshing breeze, which means to me more clarity, new thought and idea, being awake. Another meaning of Sarayu is a delightful surprise. I really like this one. To be delightfully surprised I have to be in a receptive mode, sensitive, awake and aware to all that is coming my way.
Yoga poses are pretty much all the same. How can we allow in our yoga practice to be surprised? It is never just another "trikonasana". It can never be the same. Every pose we take we only take it once in a lifetime. There will never be one just like that one, again.

I am teaching on zoom on Monday evenings and this week at the World Yoga Center NYC Tuesday 2/21 6:30 pm and Wednesday 2/22/23 10 am join me.

Our thoughts and emotions are like weaves of the ocean. They come and and they go. Small weaves, huge weaves, we can't stop the weaves. We can not push them away. Getting upset at them is also not going to make a difference for the weaves. At the bottom of the ocean there is no weaves, but peacefulness, and quietude. Not many of us have traveled to the bottom of the ocean, but many have experienced this particular sense of peacefulness from with in. This sense of Self is always at peace, a form of pure awareness.

I have a New Year's question instead of a resolution: what does it mean to you to treat yourself with generosity? how will you treat yourself if you were your best friend?
To me this thought offers a change of perspective.
I love watching the film "It's a wonderful Life" by Frank Capra 1946 I watch it almost every year around New Years. This year it was so clear to me how pain of desperation and fear was taking life away, and how the emotional shift to seeing beauty in meanings in our lives was an expression of generosity towards oneself. Maybe generosity towards oneself is one of the ways - a beginning in creating miracles and a wonder-fullness in our world.
