Last month, The Cooper Union Toboggan Team delivered an incredible performance at the Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race in London, Canada—making history as the first-ever Cooper Union team to compete in the event.
The team earned 3rd place overall and brought home five specialty awards:
- Best Performing Toboggan
- Excellence in Student Construction
- Best Braking Performance
- People’s Choice Award
- Best New Team
To celebrate their achievement, the team was also awarded Albert Nerken School of Engineering coins by Dean Barry L. Shoop.

$4.97 Million Gift Will Advance Cooper’s Computer Science Program

Ten students and four faculty from The Cooper Union Albert Nerken School of Engineering’s Department of Chemical Engineering recently traveled to Boston to attend and present research at the annual meeting of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). To close out the weekend many in The Cooper Union group gathered with chemical engineering alumni who also attended the meeting. Congrats to Cooper Brue which won several beer brewing awards, Kayla Lee ChE'26 and Suhama Saniz ChE'27 who won first and second prize respectively for their posters!
