Dogs have this way of slowing you down, opening your heart, and pointing you toward GodšŸ• We’re beyond excited to welcome this guy into the Mission Launch family and yes, he’s already getting us to Mass earlier. More to come. šŸ™

His official name is Cafecito Pascua (my husband is Cuban and if you’ve ever been to Miami..you know the city runs on Cafecito) Pascua because we got him in the easter season 🄰🐾

Don’t worry he’s getting blessed on Monday.

Other than Saint Francis, here are some other saints that loved dogs

St. Roch (Rocco)
A personal favorite for this — he was nursed back to health by a dog who brought him bread while he was sick and dying. The dog literally saved his life. He’s actually often depicted in art with his dog. Patron saint of dogs specifically.

St. John Bosco
Had a mysterious large gray dog named Grigio who appeared and protected him from assassination attempts multiple times.

St. Louis Martin — Saint ThĆ©rĆØse’s father — deeply admired the monks and their dogs at the Great St. Bernard monastery, and he passed that love of dogs down to his daughter, St. ThĆ©rĆØse, who deeply loved her own dog named Tom (white spaniel)

To the heights!

I know it’s not perfect but this inspired so many I wanted it to have a home on my feed.

If you’ve been crushed lately or have been struggling, know that coming out of that period of life can be rough. Whatever your circumstances, dreaming big can feel scary and stressful. I totally get it. More than you know at this time.

What one thing changed my ability to start dreaming big again? A trusted family friend and mentor that I’ve known since I was 2 years old- said take a risk and believe that you can, put yourself in a state of receiving (God’s love) and go for your impossible dream.

I thought about this for a day and then started putting it into action

I have often talked about 3 types of dreams, possible, stretch and impossible. I do think it’s good to think about and plan for those but if you shoot for your impossible dreams right away I can attest that you will achieve the other dreams along the way.

Another thing that I’ve been reluctant to do is go to adoration, it’s always been hard for me but even if you can do just 5 minutes that will grow into 15 then 25 etc.

Start somewhere today, don’t delay. ā€œIf you become who you are meant to be, you will set the world on fireā€ - St. Catherine of Siena

ā€œā€¦and how I wish it were already ablazeā€ -Jesus (Luke 12:49)

Imagining good things in our lives can make us closer to God pt. 1

Take a little break from scrolling and rest in meditation

One of the great gifts of going on the neuroscience and the soul retreat with the Dominicans (this priest btw was the same priest who led the retreat two weekends ago- and he was which isn’t even close to DHS (anyways so cool)

During that retreat we talked briefly about embryonic development and it’s WILD that Jesus started out that microscopic and put Himself through that to save us

Just wow. Science yo.

stop the scroll with some night prayer and adoration

final day.

This was my first Dominican retreat - ever. And I think my first ever non-silent retreat.

Another thing that was amazing to dig into was the topic of embryo development ESP during Advent. Just wow

I’m still distilling my notes but it was super fascinating and alarming.

One thing we don’t see Catholics talking enough about is how communism is very bad. The ā€œadvanceā€ that China is making is quite alarming.

If you want to know more about that drop a comment and I will explain more.

Also digging into more about how being more grateful can change your brain chemistry 🧪
