It can be a lot to be with big emotions, feelings of overwhelm that come up when we are healing trauma and building capacity around our wounds.

Helping our nervous system close loops, and get out of endless rumination is about feeding our system good input, data that helps MIND understand we are HERE & now.

The practices that widen our capacity are the ones that help us get present.

Sensory information feeds our nervous system, the more we can direct our attention to what feels good and spend more time drinking in the details, the more we remember when we’re triggered, the pain won’t last forever.

Our stories aren’t just happening to us, they are narratives shape.

What we pay attention to, grows.

What does it mean to be inwardly resourced? 🌠

Becoming inwardly resourced is like creating a buffer of preventative medicine in your inner world.

a person or thing that prevents incompatible or antagonistic people or things from coming into contact with or harming each other.

It helps us rewire memory & widen our nervous system capacity by focusing on real, tangible data that helps mind stay connected to sensations, images, movements, & thoughts that tell us we are safe, supported & more than whatever threat is presenting.

I turn to this practice regularly , especially when I navigate a moment with folks who

💕are having a hard time feeling what’s happening in their body
💕tend to look for answers, reassurance, or validation outside of themselves
💕spend a lot of time up in their head
💕feel impatient with themselves & their progress & struggle to see what is working or going well
💕when rumination won’t let up
💕have an overwhelming sense of “I’m not doing this right”

This practice helps us drop out of head and into body !

Welcome to my favorite season.

Let your belly go soft and let the rolls spill over your waistband. Find the space where you can feel your anger and let it teach you something. Let it teach you something about what it’s protecting. Audre Lorde wrote of the power of anger, the power of the erotic, she wrote so beautifully about it, go read her if youve never sat with her brilliance. And then feel what’s inside you as you do, get to know it, partner with it, seek to understand it.

Come back into coherence with yourself.

Refuse to be split, refuse to stay asleep, refuse to live under the system of abuse that makes us afraid and makes us believe power over is better than people power.

It never was, it never will be.

Pay attention to your story. The one you’re writing and living into daily.

Propose new plot lines, propose new perspectives.

It doesn’t need to make sense.

It won’t make sense right away. Let it take the time it needs. Theres no one to prove it to but you, let it be a game more than a test, there’s no one else who will be able to hear all the ways the world whispers to you and helps you understand whats calling to be known. No one else speaks in your symbols, rhythms and myths, but share your story because someone who needs to hear it is listening.

HEARING BEYOND THE FIRST LAYER OF MEANINV TO THE THING THAT SITS BENEATH

FEELING INTO BODY, EXPRESSION, ENERGY

WITNESSING, AND REFLECTING

it is not my job to know. it is my job to pay attention and to see our collective humanity.

surrender requires certain conditions. we don’t force ourself there or put ourselves there w***y nilly. we need trust. even if there isn’t a felt sense of safety, enough trust that we will find it again, that it might be waiting for us on the other side of the fear, that our body already knows, that it is in service of our survival is often enough.

if we can simply remember life wants to live, it’s often enough.

it comes in the form of presence, accurate witnessing, resonance, clarity of what is undeniable, what we know to be true even if it’s fleeting.

then if we can let ourselves go, let ourselves down to the earth, things dissolve and are rebuilt.

the body knows how to organize itself. when we get out of the way, it will.

in a way where we feel more connected, less fearful, wider in our capacity. where we feel more like ourselves. less like who we’re expected to be.

being connected to multiple choices is what makes us feel free.

Im going so hard for her right now (last photo).

And by that I mean soft AF.

Falling apart often.

And yeah know, the earth is right there to catch me. She’s right there.

Yoga classes are becoming rituals to whisper to psoas.

Instruction has always wanted to be invitation.

Grounding is rebounding.

I will not disappear. Or tune out. Or let the ugliest version of the story go unchecked.

I will contain the predator in my psyche. I commit to it. Some days it takes a great effort of closing loops and retracing steps and remembering.

Other days the remembering is a bit easier.

But there’s always remembering.
