I was there for your installation and I was there for your funeral. Your installation filled me with hope. Your funeral filled me with despair. 25 years separate those two days, but in those 25 years, you were always there for me. Selfishly I want more time, more texts, more calls, more advice. But, you gave me more than I could ever imagine - more than I could ever hope for. You were a brother. You were my friend. You were my mentor. You were my hero. Thank you for giving all you could. Thank you for giving more than you had to. I will never forget it and will never forget you. Sleep well Reverend Clinton M. Miller.

As I celebrate this trip around the Sun, I am truly excited about all of the work happening behind the scenes. Thank you to all who have supported me throughout the years. What’s about to happen next is about to be amazing.

366 days (a leap year). This past trip around the Sun, I lost a lot. I thought I lost more than I could handle. And things continue to shift and change. But I accept that the earth beneath my feet is moving not because I’m sinking. It’s moving because I am kicking up dust with each step I take as I move forward. So I am thankful for what I have gained and for what I know is coming. Thank you to all who have wished me well. And a special thanks to those of you who really stood by me this year. A lot is changing quickly. Can’t wait to show you what’s next. Here’s to the next 365. X.I.XXIV.

If a politician uses this argument, it’s a mix of a red herring and straw man logical fallacies. Stop falling for it!

For those who don’t want to hear, talk, or teach about Juneteenth NOW, isn’t it ironic there were also those who actively suppressed the truth of freedom from slaves THEN?
