In 1971, 17-year-old Juliane Koepcke fell from the sky and lived.
She was on LANSA Flight 508 with her mother when the plane flew into a violent storm over the Peruvian Amazon.
Lightning struck.
The aircraft broke apart.
Juliane fell roughly 10,000 feet while still strapped to her seat.
Somehow, she woke up alive in the rainforest.
Injured and alone, she followed water through the jungle for 11 days until she found help.
Of 92 people on board, Juliane was the only survivor.

Nine months before Rosa Parks, a 15-year-old girl refused to give up her bus seat.
Her name was Claudette Colvin.
On March 2, 1955, she was riding home from school in Montgomery, Alabama, when she was told to move for a white passenger.
She stayed seated.
Police came onto the bus, and Claudette was arrested.
Civil rights leaders did not make her the face of the boycott, but her courage still mattered. She later became one of the plaintiffs in Browder v. Gayle, the case that helped end bus segregation in Montgomery.
Rosa Parks became the symbol.
Claudette Colvin helped light the match.
