How to Fix a Crooked Jump Ring on a Pendant Part 1
How do you fix a jump ring that's soldered on crooked?
In this video, I show how I remove a slightly off-center jump ring and get it ready to be soldered back on straight.
You'll see:
• Why I remove it instead of trying to force it into position
• How to reflow the solder without damaging the bezel
• When to pull the jump ring off during heating
• How simple layout lines make alignment much easier
• Why getting things straight is often a setup problem, not a skill problem

Sometimes the fastest solution is to take it off, clean it up, and put it back where it belongs.

How do you glue an opal sphere into a ring setting and keep everything aligned?
In this video, I finish an opal sphere ring using 5-minute epoxy and show how I position the sphere and decorative side elements before the glue sets.

You'll see:
• How to mix epoxy correctly
• How much glue to use
• How I distribute the glue inside the joint
• Why I support the ring in a third arm while it cures
• How I check alignment before committing to the final position
• When I mix a fresh batch of epoxy instead of trying to rush the process

Once the glue starts setting, you want everything exactly where you want it.

How do you curve a bezel so it actually fits inside a ring shank?
In this video, I show the method we use to create a matching curve on the bottom of a bezel before fitting it into a ring.
You'll see:
• Why the bezel needs to be taller than you think
• How to find the correct matching curve
• Why I use sandpaper on a matching dap or mandrel
• How to curve the back sheet to match the bezel
• Why heavier back sheets help prevent distortion during fitting

Getting the curve right is what makes the bezel, back sheet, and ring shank fit together cleanly.

How do you solder silver prongs onto a low bezel without the solder running up the prong?
In this video, I show the method I use to position and solder prongs onto a low bezel setting.
You'll see:
• How to use a magnesia block to hold the setup in place
• Why I leave the prongs slightly long during soldering
• Where to place the solder for the cleanest joint
• Why the heat belongs on the bezel, not the prong
• How to make the solder flow into the seam instead of climbing the wire
• How I check the joint before trimming the excess prong length

Solder always follows the most heat. Once you understand that, solder placement becomes much easier to control.
