This week, the Young Voices Education In Music Foundation and artist, Chris Pinnella visited with some of our friends in Newark Public Schools to help prepare for their upcoming performance! Chris and the team worked with students in 5th through 8th grade on a medley of songs from Matilda, focusing on diction and melody.

In 2022, a national Executive Order was signed saying the arts are "essential to the well-being, health, vitality, and democracy of our Nation.' Even with these new initiatives, funding for the arts remains tiny. In FY22, the NEA was .0029% of the federal budget."

Speakers and panelists attending [the] summit were committed to an interdisciplinary approach, "believing arts and culture should be integrated into all kinds of policy decisions." After all, today's students of music and the arts are not just tomorrow's artists - they are doctors, teachers, tech geniuses, lawyers, and more. The arts are vital to a well-rounded education and there are plenty of ways YOU can help make them more accessible.
