Only a trickle from one faucet in freezing weather can point to a frozen pipe. Leave that faucet open, then look for the cold section near an exterior wall, crawl space, garage or foundation entry.

Warm the accessible pipe with an electric hair dryer, an electric heating pad or towels soaked in hot water. Never use a blowtorch, kerosene or propane heater, charcoal stove or any other open flame. Keep applying gentle heat until full water pressure returns, then check the other faucets because more than one pipe may be frozen.

If you cannot find or safely reach the frozen section, if the pipe is cracked or leaking, or if full pressure does not return, stop and call a licensed plumber.

A knife can move dirt and bacteria from a melon rind into the flesh. Wash your hands for 20 seconds, then rinse whole fruits and vegetables under plain running water before eating, cutting or peeling. Rub gently; use a clean produce brush for firm produce such as melons and cucumbers. Skip soap, detergent and commercial produce wash. Dry with a clean cloth or paper towel, cut away bruised or damaged areas, then use a clean knife and board. Washing reduces bacteria on the surface, but it does not sterilize produce. FDA and CDC guidance informed this sequence.

That closed exterior door may still be leaking.

Look for visible light, gaps, cracked seals, or worn weatherstripping. Then close the door or operable window on an ordinary sheet of paper and pull straight. If the sheet slides out easily, mark that spot and repeat the test around the top, both sides, and bottom.

Use weatherstripping on the joint that opens and closes. Use caulk on a stationary crack. Retest after the repair: the paper should resist, and the door or window should still close and latch normally.

Guidance checked against ENERGY STAR and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Your phone suddenly has no service and your carrier says the SIM or eSIM changed? Treat the combination as a possible SIM-swap or port-out attack. From another trusted device, contact your carrier through its official app, website, or a number you know is real and ask it to restore control of your phone number. Once the number is back, change passwords—starting with email and financial accounts—then review bank and card activity for unauthorized changes. If personal or financial information was exposed, use IdentityTheft.gov for a recovery plan. Add a carrier-account PIN or number lock if offered, and move sensitive accounts from SMS codes to an authenticator app or security key.

Reading aloud with a preschooler can be a conversation, not a performance. Try the PEER approach described by Reading Rockets: prompt your child with a question about a picture, listen and acknowledge their response, expand it with a useful detail, then invite them to use those new words. For example, ask what the fox is doing. If your child says fox, respond: Yes, a fox leaping over a log. Give them another turn, with help when needed. Use the approach on a few pages while your child is interested; you do not need to stop at every picture. The aim is a warm back-and-forth, not a quiz.

A small thermal burn can keep damaging skin after the hot object is gone.

Move away from the heat source. Remove loose jewelry or clothing near the burn, but never pull away anything stuck to the skin. Cool the area under clean, cool running water for 20 minutes. Do not use ice, butter, toothpaste, cream, or ointment. Keep the rest of the person warm, then cover the cooled burn loosely with a clean non-stick dressing.

Call 911 for a deep or large burn; an electrical, chemical, or explosive burn; breathing trouble; or a serious burn involving the face, mouth, hands, feet, joints, groin, or an area wrapped around a limb, chest, or neck.

That raised lid is not a small seal defect. Treat it as a warning.

Spoilage gas can push a seal upward, but botulinum toxin gives you no reliable look, smell, or taste. Do not open the container. Do not press the lid or taste the food.

If the suspect jar is still sealed, keep it closed. Double-bag it, close the bags tightly, and place it in outdoor non-recyclable trash away from people and pets.

If anyone who ate the food develops double or blurry vision, drooping eyelids, trouble swallowing, slurred speech, difficulty breathing, or muscle weakness, treat it as an emergency and get medical care immediately.
