Hello everyone!
Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Christina Katrakis http://www.katrakis.com/ and I’m an international artist, curator, producer, gallerist, art historian and critic.
While I’m an American, I lived, studied and worked around the world. I devoted more than 10 years of my life to obtaining specialized higher education in my field, from numerous great educational institutions: Lorenzo di Medici, Kiev Art Academy, Sorbonne, Memphis University, Maryland School of Arts so on.
As an artist, I worked with a number of renown world galleries, from Anna Tzarev in New York to EichBlatt in Berlin. My work is on display in museums from Institute of Modern Art in Chicago to Paris Museum of Modern Art, from major Exhibition Centers of Cape Town, South Africa to Xinyan, China.
My artist’s career goes hand in hand with my curatorial one. In fact, I’m probably one of the unique cases in that respect, for I was both represented as an artist by Christies’ and also worked for Christies Auction as their curator. Hence I know both sides of the art marketing tale first hand. I’m an official international UNESCO coordinator for UNESCO Center in Bologna curating the Bridge for Art Project. The work on the “Bridge for Art” UNESCO project for UNESCO Center in Bologna has come to an end on May 5th 2020.
As a curator, I worked for numerous international Art Fairs, from Art Moscow to Art Belin, from Art Paris to Art Huston. Coordinated and managed multimillion projects such as: Orion (USA) $600 million investment project and in Lefkadia (Russia) $450 million project. As a curator of the Voronov’s Museum of Modern Art, I managed, coordinated and handled hundreds of millions worth in artifacts: Picasso, Warhol, Soutine, Kandinsky, Modigliani etc.
As a gallerist, I opened and ran my own Katrakis Gallery, representing and selling such painters as Malevich, Indiana and Hirst or photographers like Ballen, Toscani and John Kennedy. I also actively work with Hollywood, as an artist, story maker and producer.
After teaching as a professor in the University, I began to lecture independent from any institution. Have a large following of students world-wide, whose lives were transformed and even started my online courses https://artmarketing.school/ To which I have a pleasure of inviting you!
