🎓 Not sure whether the SAT or ACT is right for you? Don't guess. Test it.
Before committing months of preparation—or deciding to skip standardized testing altogether—try a practice test first.
A practice test can give you a much clearer picture of where you stand.
✅ If it feels manageable: With focused preparation, a strong score could become an advantage in your college applications.
❌ If it feels overwhelming: You may decide that your time and energy are better invested elsewhere.
The key is to make the decision based on evidence, not assumptions.
One practice test can help answer an important question:
Is standardized testing worth pursuing for YOUR college strategy?
A little effort now can save you a lot of doubt later.

😵💫 Feeling overwhelmed? Do this first.
Before adding another goal, activity, or commitment to your schedule, take a step back and write down EVERYTHING you’re already doing.
📚 Classes
🎯 Activities
🏠 Family responsibilities
💼 Work
🧹 Chores
⏰ Other commitments
Why?
Because you can't prioritize what you haven't identified.
Once you can see everything on your plate, you can start asking better questions:
👉 What actually matters most?
👉 What can be reduced or eliminated?
👉 Where are you spending time without realizing it?
👉 What deserves more of your attention?
Sometimes the solution to feeling overwhelmed isn't doing more.
It's getting clear on what you're already doing.
At Kingfisher Prep, we help students build practical systems for managing academics, activities, and the demands of college preparation.

🎓 Do you really need the SAT or ACT?
The answer isn't the same for every student.
For some students, standardized testing may not be the best use of their time—especially if testing creates significant stress or their application is already strong in other areas.
For others, a strong SAT or ACT score can provide an additional advantage, particularly when applying to highly selective colleges.
Before deciding, consider:
✅ How does testing fit into your overall application?
✅ Are you targeting colleges where scores can strengthen your profile?
✅ Can you realistically achieve a score that adds value?
✅ Would test preparation take time away from more important priorities?
The goal isn't simply to take the test because everyone else is doing it.
It's to make the testing decision that makes sense for your individual college strategy.
