The science of Mercury in retrograde
Oahu! As a teacher, this pandemic has been extremely stressful. I recently made the difficult decision not to go back to teaching in a classroom this year, and I know many of you are struggling with the same decision for your children.
If your student needs support with distance learning, homeschooling or supplemental education, I'm available. I can do online sessions or come to your home, as long as we wear masks.
I have a Bachelor of Science with a minor in Theatre. I've been a tutor for 6 years, taught high school science for the last 2 years, and was the instructor for an after school STEM program for 1 year.
My privately tutored students have been accepted into Iolani and Punahou private schools. I specialize in science and helping students find their writing voice, but I can work with any subject.
I offer discounts for weekly packages.

Before this discovery, there was very little information known about how ridged cactus coral reproduce. No photos, videos, or published studies were ever done on the species' reproductive biology until scientists at the aquarium successfully reproduced them while catching the "birth" on video.
The Florida Aquarium just made a breakthrough that will help save the third largest coral reef in the world Ridged cactus coral are just one of a variety of species rescued from Florida's waters after coral reefs in the state began undergoing a major disease outbreak that started in 2014. The aquarium has successfully reproduced them in human care.

What’s that in the tree? A strange fruit? No! It’s a sign that the Horticulture Department has been here recently.
This bundle of moss and plastic is part of a process called “air layering.” Air layering coaxes a branch into making roots while still attached to the tree. Then the branch can be removed and planted in a new place. It’s a way to clone an existing plant by using its amazing abilities to heal and reproduce. Because the new plant is a clone, it has the same traits as the original. For some plants, like the ʻōhiʻa (Metrosideros polymorpha) pictured, it lets us grow new trees to maturity more quickly than if we started from seed.
If you want to learn more about air layering, stay tuned! Soon we'll share a bit more about this cool technique.
And don’t forget to check out Horticulture Manager Tim Kroessig’s Facebook Live this Wednesday, April 22, at 10 am HST!
