Back in 2010, Yancey and Cory were young new entrepreneurs working with Cheri Tree and helping her grow her companies, and in their downtime looking for a niche industry to tap into. Cory becoming better and better at designing presentations, came across a presentation event that opened the door and the idea of creating a presentation company based solely on delivering kick-butt presentations. At the same time, Yancey caught wind of a presentation contest that was being held on slideshare.net. Slideshare is coined the YouTube for Presentations. The contest was an annual one titled “World’s Best Presentation Contest”. Cory was apprehensive on entering at first, but with some convincing from Yancey, he entered. Fast forward, our presentation ‘SMOKE - The Convenient Truth’ won two 1st place awards in Best Overall and Best Education Categories. The following day launched Empowered Presentations! Thinking back to the presentation event Yancey and Cory attended, they always had a desire to launch their own similar event because they knew they could do it much better and deliver more value to those whom choose to invest in themselves and their presentations. What is a small intimate event built exclusively for the business professionals, the Presentation Retreat has a bigger vision for the future to open the doors to hundreds of the best of the best in presentation design and delivery niche industry.
