Meet Leilani Wright, Clinical Instructor for the Surgical Technology Program at the Academy for Healthcare Innovation.
Leilani’s journey into healthcare wasn’t a straight line – and that’s exactly what makes her story meaningful for today’s students. After years in education and a growing fascination with anatomy and surgery, she returned to school and graduated from Kapi‘olani Community College, earning her nursing degree and beginning her clinical career at Straub Benioff Medical Center.
From the operating room to cardiac surgery – and now back in the classroom – Leilani brings real-world experience, curiosity, and high expectations into her teaching. She believes surgical technology is more than a job: it’s a passion that requires critical thinking, engagement, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
At AHI, Leilani is proud to help prepare the next generation of surgical technologists – and to show students that there are many paths to success in health care.
