Updating anyone who is confused about who is included in reopening for salons. Esthetics fall under personal care. Which tier 1 is ridiculous and is no option for estheticians to provide services outside. They should be able to reopen as most salons rather hair or nails offers esthetic services.

Finally the salons on Oahu are able to reopen! Good luck to everyone who are set to reopen tomorrow.

😥😡
How can any health official, OSHA, or the Board think this is okay to subject staff and clients to sit outside in 108 degree weather and perform services? Business owners would have been sued, fined and had their license revoked 5 months ago if they did this! THIS IS INHUMANE, but people have no other choice! They tell us to trust research and science, it has been 6 weeks since I requested the “research” and “ science” from our officials, which warranted moving services outdoors. Nothing received. The worst part, if a customer suffers a heat stroke, or is injured, you are responsible, because the rules dictate that each salon must have a heat stroke prevention area. The scariest part, your insurance doesn’t cover you, because you are outside your licensed establishment. Can you guess how many states require salons to work outside or stay closed? ONLY ONE, California.
Go to school for over 1,500 hours; pay thousands of dollars in tuition; spend $200,000 to open a salon; pay $10,000 a month in rent; then be forced to work on a dirty sidewalk outside of your clean and safe salon. For how long? If you guys were on the call with the state officials couple of weeks ago, their response was “months”.

🔺WIND: Hurricane conditions expected for parts of Maui County today, on Oahu by the afternoon, and on Kauai / Niihau tonight. Tropical Storm conditions are imminent across the Big Island. Due to the steep terrain of the islands, hurricane-force wind gusts are possible even within the tropical storm warning area.
🔺SURF: Large swells will affect Hawaii into Monday, producing life-threatening and potentially destructive surf along exposed shores.
🔺STORM SURGE: The combination of higher than predicted water levels, dangerous storm surge, and large breaking waves will raise water levels by as much as 3 feet above normal tides near the center of Douglas.
🔺RAIN: Heavy rain is expected to affect parts of Hawaii from early this morning into Mon. Total rain accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are possible from Maui County west to Kauai County, with the greatest amounts up to 15 inches in elevated terrain. This rain may result in life-threatening flash flooding and land slides, as well as rapid water level rises on small streams. Douglas could produce an additional 2 to 4 in of rainfall over the northern half of the Big Island.

‼BEWARE DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU‼
As nail professionals we learn that this is what can happen if we overexpose our clients to nail products.
Straight out of the Nail Technology book, it states..
One of the most important rules of being a good Nail technician is:
NEVER TOUCH ANY NAIL ENHANCEMENT PRODUCT TO THE SKIN - THE CLIENT'S OR YOURS.
There are Licensed Nail Technicians out there who disregard this rule and put their clients at risk. Example ‐ Touching the client's skin with an oversaturated acrylic brush with monomer. The client may not have a reaction right away but over time, might develop some kind of allergic reaction (refer to the picture).
Just imagine if an unlicensed "Nail artist" is doing your nails.... What are you risking by going to someone who is self taught by watching You Tube videos?🤔 They're unaware of the risks, they have not learned about nail anatomy, nail disorders, infectious skin disorders, product knowledge or state/federal laws and regulations.... Just to name a few. Nevermind that they also don't have a license or have liability insurance.
So what are you willing to sacrifice to let the unlicensed "Nail Artist" practice on you?
