The summer is looking great with 4 recaptures in just the past 12 days! One of the fish was only at large for 9 days!
O'io Tagging Project

Howsit guys! Hopefully some of you can find this table useful. It's an age and weight prediction table for both species based on fork length. If we release an oio and are curious about how old it was or about how much it weighed, this is a great way of getting a solid estimation (as long as you get the fork length before releasing).
Fish 8740 was recaptured after being at large for 4 years. It grew 7.5 inches, tripled its weight, and was caught in the same bay
Come check us out at the Ocean Expo this weekend!
And good luck to all GT Masters participants
Congrats to Brealand Tam and William Calso for taking first and second place prizes for the oio tagging category at this years KKC Oio Invitational
The 12.4lb (29.5") oio has been confirmed at 15-16 years old!
If you're playing in the KKC Oio Invitational, don't forget that there will be a prize for the 10th and 50th entrant! There are also side categories for the Barbless Circle Hook project and the Oio Tagging Project (both have prizes). Submit tag/kit requests ahead of time for the tagging category!
Thanks to Mitchell Taketa for donating the head of a massive oio! This round jaw had a 29.5 inch fork length and we will be ageing it within the next week. It's age will be posted as soon as we find out.
A 27.5" round jaw was tagged last week. It's the biggest we've had tagged in a while. But we do have many fish in the 27"-30" carrying tags out there (almost exclusively round jaws)!
Thanks to all our anglers out there tagging, recapturing, and reporting. We've had 5 recaptures in just the past month
Another fish carried a tag for 4 years! Fish 8722 was originally tagged on 9/13/2010 and recaptured 8/16/15. The capture locations were only 1/2 a mile a part in Maunalua Bay!
I was a bit slow to the Instagram scene, and joined up relatively recently. Some of you have already used for your oio tagging pictures and that's awesome! Let's keep that hashtag going!
