What helps students keep going after unthinkable loss? 💛
This moving story from Lahaina shares how students, educators and community came together after the 2023 Maui wildfires and turned heartbreak into hope. From healing in the classroom to record college enrollment, Lahainaluna students are showing all of us what resilience looks like. 🌺📚
K-12 educators will find so much to reflect on here about community, belonging and the lasting impact of showing up for students.

Aloha UHPA Members,
We are joining the AFT at the “No Dictators” event on October 18th to demonstrate our deep concern over harmful actions and policies being issued by the current administration that impact the University of Hawai‘i system and the future of higher education.
This national event is our crucial opportunity to counter those who seek to erode access to education—precisely the tool needed to recognize and counter dangerous political regimes and the uprising of dictators. By joining this protest, we are defending the University of Hawaiʻi and the core of democracy for our nation.
Stand With UHPA Leadership on Oahu
Your UHPA Leadership is leading by example and will be participating at the rally taking place at the State Capitol. We urge all UHPA members to stand in unity and solidarity.

"We care, we fight, we show up." These words continue to resonate as we celebrate the 1 year anniversary of UHPAʻs affiliation with AFT. We will encounter turbulent waters ahead, but we are better equipped to steady the ship and are stronger as a result of our affiliation.

Virtual Town Hall Meeting with U.S. Congresswoman Jill Tokuda (HI-02)
Aloha UHPA members:
Our country is under siege. Every day, a new executive order or
federal policy threatens funding for valuable programs and eliminates
thousands of jobs. UH faculty and programs important to the
wellbeing of Hawai‘i are in the crosshairs.
Now is the time to take bold action by sharing how you are being impacted by these new federal edicts. Rep. Jill Tokuda requested a town hall meeting to hear directly from UHPA members. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn how she and her allies in Washington, D.C. are fighting back on your behalf.
Thursday, March 13, 2025

You will receive a calendar invite and Zoom link upon registration.
