National Foreign Language Resource Center We're the language center of the Pacific.

The NFLRC offers professional learning initiatives in project-based language learning (PBLL), online & mobile learning, and intercultural competence & has a wide range of open educational resources & publications. The goal of the National Foreign Language Resource Center (NFLRC) is to expand the nation’s capacity to teach and learn foreign languages effectively through research and materials development projects, especially the less commonly taught languages of Asia and the Pacific. The primary audience for most NFLRC endeavors is language instructors and applied linguists involved in these languages. However, NFLRC projects are intended to have implications for the teaching and learning of all languages, with results being disseminated to the larger educational community through publications, summer institutes, conferences, workshops, symposia, online learning events, etc. The NFLRC also conducts outreach to governmental agencies, language and area studies centers, and others concerned with strengthening the nation’s capacity in this field.

Korean Online Language Pedagogy (OLP) Series Recordings Now Available!

Our newest NFLRC professional learning series, designed specifically for online Korean language teachers, focused on three key areas – Learner Interaction, Resources for Online Korean Teaching, and Course Design & Assessment

Our invited panelists included Professor Myounghee Cho (University of Rochester), Dr. Lynsey Lee (University of Guam), Dr. Leeseul Park (University of Georgia), Dr. Aram Cho (Georgia State University), Dr. Hakyoon Lee (Georgia State University), Professor Meejeong Song (Cornell University), Dr. Sang-Seok Yoon (University of Iowa), Dr. Bumyong Choi (Emory University), and Dr. Angela Lee-Smith (Yale University). Ms. Sarah Boutin (North Carolina Virtual Public School) served as series facilitator.

Language Learning & Technology Welcomes New Editors-in-Chief

The Executive Board of Language Learning & Technology (LLT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Crosthwaite, Yu-Ju Lan, and Qing Ma as the journal's new Editors-in-Chief, effective September 1, 2026.

As LLT begins this new chapter, the Executive Board wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the outgoing Editors-in-Chief, Hayo Reinders and Lara Lomicka Anderson, for their outstanding service to the journal. Their contributions have strengthened LLT's reputation, leaving the journal exceptionally well positioned for continued growth.

This editorial transition coincides with a new partnership between LLT and the University of Hawai‘i Press, which will provide additional publishing infrastructure, expanded dissemination capacity, and support for the journal’s preservation and sustainability. Importantly, LLT will remain a diamond open-access publication, continuing to make its content freely available to readers and authors without article processing charges.
