The purpose of this study is to learn how Native Hawaiian adults with asthma have managed their asthma during COVID-19, understand the impact COVID-19 has had on their asthma management, and discuss behaviors to prevent severe COVID-19 complications related to having asthma.
This study will be conducted as a talk story session, lasting about 60-90 minutes via zoom. In appreciation of your time, a $20 gift will be provided!
Information gathered from these talk story sessions will contribute to understanding attitudes, beliefs, and practices related to asthma management during COVID-19 and discuss behavioral practices and vaccinations as an option to prevent COVID-19 infection.

This study is being done by Donna-Marie Palakiko, PhD, RN, APRN. Donna-Marie is a nurse and faculty at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa in the Department of Nursing.

Sharing this from the RADx-UP Research Project in partnership with UH-Manoa (JABSOM) and University of Guam. Funded by the National Institutes of Health, this important research study is focusing on recruiting a total of 4,000 eligible PI in Hawaii and 800 on Guam. The main objective of the study is "to use culturally appropriate community-engagement strategies to increase the reach and uptake of COVID-19 testing in order to better understand SARS-CoV-2 infection patterns among Pacific Islanders in Hawaii and on Guam."
The study will be launched next Monday, May 17th, 2021. Please, make a difference in the PI community by being a study participant!
