Approx 400 testimonies in support of Hawaii County Council Resolution 234-25 (and two testimonies opposed) heavily swayed the committee on resource management to vote unanimously 8-0 in favor of ceasing live fire activities at Pōhakuloa and requiring a “Ka Paʻakai” analysis, a county process to protect natural and cultural resources. At least twelve students from six Hawaiian charter schools testified alongside 30+ community leaders, mothers, artists, combat veterans and longtime activists. The only testimony against was from a paid staff member at Pōhakuloa. Meanwhile, multiple sources believe Gov Josh Green has been meeting with representatives from the Secretary of D behind closed doors, who are allegedly trying to secure a lease agreement in the next 40-60 days.
