The whole department would like to congratulate Tita Ime for winning the Frances Davis Award for Excellence in Undergradauate Teaching at the recently concluded 2024 UH Mānoa Awards Ceremony!

“Tita Imé introduced the concept of a Filipino tradition called bayanihan—the spirit of helping––and transformed that tradition to cooperative learning as a teaching methodology.”

Tita Ime is very well known among the Filipino community for her work with Fil4Kids and other philanthropic endeavors. She’s been a guiding light not only for her students but her colleagues as well. The department is truly grateful to call her one of our own.

This is the 3rd year in a row that a faculty of the department has been recognized for their outstanding contribution to the field of language teaching!
