Congratulations to Patrick Samsonas ’93, who has been selected to be our eighth varsity head football coach since 1935. He assumes the reins from Wendell Look ’78, who announced his retirement last month.
“We found the right guy to do this,” said Look, who won 239 games, nine HHSAA State Championships and 14 ILH titles, during his 35 years at the helm of the ‘Iolani football program. “Pat has all the ingredients. He has the background to come up with his own successful plan … and that takes time. But most importantly, Pat has the school’s values ingrained in him.”

GIRLS WATER POLO: ‘Iolani hosts Le Jardin tonight at 6 pm in ILH third-place game. Winner moves on to HHSAA play-in game vs. MIL third-place team on Friday.

BASEBALL: ‘Iolani plays Kamehameha today at CORP at 1 pm in elimination game of ILH double-elimination tournament. Winner advances to finals vs. Pac-Five on Monday.

The ‘Iolani baseball team defeated Mid-Pacific, 9-8, this afternoon to survive and advance in the ILH double-elimination tournament. The Raiders will play Kamehameha tomorrow in the tourney semifinal. First pitch at CORP is set for 1 p.m. The winner advances to play undefeated Pac-Five on Monday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL: ‘Iolani plays Kamehameha tonight at Punahou at 5:30 pm to open ILH double-elimination tournament.

BOYS & GIRLS JUDO: Kamehameha hosts ILH Championships tonight, begining at 5 pm.
