Late post πŸŽ“πŸ¦·βœ¨

Graduation may be done, but these amazing HS DENT students are still showing up, staying focused, and putting in the work! Even after celebrating such an important milestone, they continue to demonstrate dedication, professionalism, and commitment to completing their dental assisting journey strong. πŸ‘πŸŒΊ

With only a few more weeks remaining, these students are preparing to begin their three-week Externship Program, where they will take the skills they have practiced in the classroom and lab into real dental office settings. This is a major step forward, and we are so proud of their growth, perseverance, and readiness! 🦷πŸ’ͺ

A heartfelt mahalo to the Hawaii Dental Service (HDS) Foundation for the continued partnership and support in making this opportunity possible for our students. Your investment in future dental professionals truly makes a difference! πŸŒˆπŸ€™

This past Saturday, students practiced moisture control and the placement of paralleling technique XCP Rinn holders and digital sensors in each other’s mouths. This hands-on experience allowed them to better understand the patient’s perspective during dental radiographic procedures while strengthening their clinical confidence and technical skills. πŸ“ΈπŸ¦·

They are now gearing up to complete their 2–3 live patient full mouth series of intraoral radiographic images, along with an extraoral radiographic image, either panoramic or cephalometric. These are big milestones, and they are getting closer to the finish line one skill, one patient, and one radiograph at a time! πŸ™Œβœ¨

Please help us celebrate and encourage these hardworking students as they continue moving forward toward externship and program completion. Drop a πŸŽ‰, 🦷, or encouraging message below to cheer them on! πŸ‘πŸŒΊ

πŸŽ“πŸ¦· Congratulations to all of our High School graduates! πŸ¦·πŸŽ“

A special congratulations to our High School Dental Assisting students! We took some time to celebrate their accomplishments before diving into one of the final critical components of their future dental profession: Radiation Health and Safety. β˜’οΈπŸ“š

Students learned the importance of completing annual Radiation Health and Safety training, along with OSHA/CDC Infection Prevention and Control training. They also learned the importance of following the ALARA principle, which reminds dental professionals to keep radiation exposure As Low As Reasonably Achievable. πŸ›‘οΈβœ¨

From there, students practiced the paralleling technique using both digital sensors and phosphor storage plates. They also learned the components and proper techniques for capturing full-mouth series, panoramic radiographs, and cephalometric radiographs. πŸ“ΈπŸ¦·

A heartfelt mahalo to the Hawaii Dental Service Foundation for helping make this opportunity possible! πŸŒΊπŸ€™
