Since 1981, we’ve inspired over 1 million kids to become future environmental leaders. Hawaii Nature Center is an environmental education nonprofit campuses on Maui and Oahu. We connect students with nature using environmental science curriculum. We inspire them, as well as their parents, families and teachers, a deeper appreciation for the environment. By fostering a respect for nature, we are confident that children will grow into environmental stewards and impress upon future generations the importance of protecting our planet.

The Rainforest Ramble is September 26! Join us for a 1-mile beginner trail or a 2.4-mile advanced course through the lush rainforest of Makiki.

Get outside, challenge yourself and experience one of O‘ahu’s special natural places, all while supporting Hawai‘i Nature Center and our work connecting keiki with nature.

This year marked an exciting milestone as HNC expanded its reach to Maui, launching environmental education programs that connected more children and families across Hawaiʻi to the wonder of the natural world.

School may be out, but the adventure isn’t over.

There’s still time to join Hawaiʻi Nature Center’s Nature Adventure Camp, where keiki ages 6–11 unplug from technology, explore the outdoors and discover Hawaiʻi’s unique environment through hands-on science and environmental education.

Remaining camp sessions:
🌿 July 6–10: Mission: Zero Waste (15% off this week only)
🌿 Aug. 3–7: Mission: Zero Waste
🌿 Aug. 10–14: Songs, Steps, and Stewardship

Led by expert environmental educators, each week is filled with exploration, discovery and outdoor learning.

Limited scholarships are available for qualifying Oʻahu DOE students.

Curriculum Coordinator Michele Jacobs shares the upcoming Camp Zero Waste that starts on July 6 - a great opportunity for working parents to ensure kids, age 6 to 11, can spend summer studying with hands-on activities and outdoor adventures. They will learn to reduce waste, reuse resources and make more sustainable choices. Mission: Zero Waste camp session takes place July 6 through10 on Oʻahu.
