Parents for Public Schools Hawaii (“PPS-HI”) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) coalition of parents, community members, and educators who are committed to ensuring all children in Hawai`i have access to a quality public education. We strive to increase family and community engagement through programs, events, and other activities. We also work with key decision makers to advocate for policies that increase educational opportunities for parents, families, and children. We urgently need volunteers this Saturday, Sept. 19, to help distribute emergency meal boxes to members of our ʻohana.

📷 Ho’oha’aheo Photo of the Week: Kapolei Middle School seventh graders pose in front of a U.S. Marine Corps C-130J Super Hercules during the third annual Wings of Aloha event, hosted on Sept. 11 by the 15th Wing at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The two-day event brought together hundreds of public school students and community members to explore aircraft up close, meet the people who operate and maintain them, and learn about military and aviation careers. Students also toured a variety of aircraft, including the U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III, Civil Air Patrol Cessna 172 Skylane, U.S. Air Force F-22A Raptor and U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker.

Hanalei Elementary School will be distributing meal boxes today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Meals are available at no cost for children ages 18 and younger. Children must be present at the time of pickup.

Each meal box will contain three days' worth of shelf-stable meals. Learning packets for students will also be available.

Congratulations to BHS Art & Design students who sold their artwork at the 2026 Malama Wao Akua Art Exhibit: Jai Kuraoka, Kalia Potts, and Katie Dolin!

Extra congratulations to Katie Dolin for receiving the coveted Juror’s Choice Award. Katie is also the 2026 Four Seasons Scholarship recipient, with her artworks featured and sold at the Four Seasons Resort Gallery.
