Strode Montessori Strode Montessori creates an environment for the young child to succeed. We work with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years.

Open 5 days a week from 6:45am to 5:30pm, Strode Montessori offers full-time and part-time care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. An accredited infant and toddler center, we recognize that each child has unique talents, learning styles, and personalities. With over 15 years of experience on average, our highly qualified and nurturing teachers and staff are committed to working within each child’s comfort zone to ensure optimal social, emotional, and educational results. Classes are kept to a low student-teacher ratio with a 1:3 infant ratio and a 1:5 toddler ratio, so that each keiki is given the attention they need and deserve. Strode Montessori exists to help children grow physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Early in the 20th century, Maria Montessori devised a method of education which stressed the importance of the early education. She saw the importance of meeting the needs of the “whole child.”

The environment in which a child develops is crucial. Strode Montessori tries to provide one that is warm, safe, and stimulating. Each classroom or prepared environment is child-sized or child-centered. Children are given the chance to move, make choices, socialize, and develop intellectually in a noncompetitive atmosphere. Our concept of a Montessori center is a place where parents and other members of the community can learn about the philosophy and methods of Maria Montessori and where children can have a happy and productive early learning experience.

We celebrated Lā Ku'ako'a ( Hawaiian Independence Day 11/28) by listening to our national anthem (Hawai'i Pono'ī and a mo'olelo of King Kamehameha III Kauikeauoli who was the longest reigning monarch of the Nation of Hawai'i. He established our democratic government, started a voting system for all, our first constitution, started public school system (before any other country in the world), constituted our national flag, and started the Honolulu Fire Department and sooo much more!!

The preschoolers and toddlers had fun coloring and glueing their own Hawaiian flags with markers, crayons, paint, and dotters while our infants collaborated on a large hand and foot painted flag.
