Allow us to reintroduce ourselves. 👋
Meet the newest members of our Institutional Advancement team:
Jayme (Obata) Sakai ‘03, Director of Alumni Engagement — An alum and familiar face on campus, Jayme most recently served in our Elementary School. She is now leading the charge on building and strengthening relationships with our alumni and celebrating their stories.
Mahea Nakamura, Director of Annual Giving — Many of you know Mahea from Admissions and Enrollment Management. She’s channeling that same aloha into strengthening our culture of giving through the Mid-Pacific Fund. Mahea is also a Mid-Pacific parent of a rising senior.
They’re already hitting the ground running, joining our IA team in preparing for two big summer events: the Alumni Golf Tournament this Friday and Alumni Pā‘ina on July 18. We hope to see you there!
Welcome to IA, Jayme and Mahea! 🤙
Mid-Pacific
Innovators. Artists. Individuals. Preschool & K-12.
Mid-Pacific Institute was established through the 1908 merger of Kawaiaha'o Seminary for Girls, founded in 1864, and Mills Institute for Boys, founded in 1892. For well over a century, Mid-Pacific Institute has been equipping its graduates with the knowledge, skills and character necessary to achieve success not just in college, but in life itself.
As a 2026 Miss Aloha Hula contestant, Mid-Pacific alumna Samantha Makanani Aguon Newman ’20 brought grace, strength, and meaning to the Merrie Monarch stage.
Her ‘auana performance paid special tribute to the late Aunty Dottie Crowell ’55, honoring a legacy that continues to uplift the Mid-Pacific ‘ohana.
Watch the full video on Makanani’s journey and how Mid-Pacific and Pūpūkahi helped shape the person and performer she is today. Find it in the latest issue of Mid-Pacific Today at the link in bio.
